The Charlotte Children’s Center was established in 1984 by a group of local parents who recognized the growing need for high quality early childhood education programs in Chittenden County and Northern Addison County. The non-profit center is licensed by the State of Vermont Department for Families and Children and maintains a 5 STAR level in Vermont’s Step Ahead Recognition System.
Since 2010, the Center has been endorsed an ECO-Healthy Child Care Center by the Children’s Environmental Council. In order to earn this endorsement, the Center has to maintain a commitment to maintaining a healthy, safe and green childcare setting for the children we serve. This includes things such as using natural cleaning products, only using glass containers in microwaves and recycling and composting waste. As another example of our commitment to the environment, the children use a lavender/tea tree soap made by a local company, Lunaroma, to wash their hands. This soap has natural antibacterial properties but is not harsh for children’s hands.
