The Charlotte Children’s Center was established in 1984 by a group of local parents who recognized the growing need for high quality early childhood education programs in Charlotte and the surrounding area. The non-profit center is licensed by the State of Vermont Department for Families and Children and maintains a 5 STAR level in Vermont’s Step Ahead Recognition System.
The Center is also accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). In order to earn this accreditation, the Center must meet 10 Standards and 400 related criteria that are based on the latest research on how children learn and develop. To learn more about NAEYC visit their website at www.naeyc.org.
Just this year, the Center also became endorsed as an ECO-Healthy Child Care Center by the Children’s Environmental Council. In order to earn this endorsement, the Center has to maintain a commitment to maintaining a healthy, safe and green childcare setting for the children we serve. This includes things such as using natural cleaning products, only using glass containers in microwaves and recycling and composting waste. To learn more, visit www.cehn.org.
The Center is open year round from 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Mondays – Friday. We are closed for one week in December, on major holidays and 5 in-service days per year.
