Voyager Summer Camp 2012

We are excited to offer, for the first time, a summer camp at our new extension program! It is open to children entering kindergarten –
age 8.

Our summer camp is designed as a first camp experience in a safe and nurturing environment where children can play, explore, be challenged, and be part of a team. Children are always growing and changing in such amazing ways.

Along with lots of fun outdoor exploring, water play, picnics, nature walks, and story times under a shady tree, your child’s imagination will soar! You can never have enough voyages in your life!

Voyage Choices

Voyage I – June 18-29 – Cooking Camp
Cooking Camp will explore healthy food choices through research and recipe experimentation. Children will gain a new perspective on how to make healthy food choices, learn proper food preparation and handling skills, and best of all have fun in the kitchen! Children will document their experiences daily with a special food blog.

Voyage II – July 2-13 (closed July 4) – Adventureland
On our Adventureland Voyage, we’ll be learning all about how to use ingenuity, creativity, and the surrounding environment to create every day adventures! Our adventures include treasure lungs, obstacle courses, race challenges, nature walk discoveries and more. We will only be limited by our creativity. We’ll end with a field trip on the ferry to a park in Essex, NY.

Voyage III – July 16-27 – Science Wizards
On our Science Wizards Voyage we’ll look at the worlk in a new way. The scientific method will guide our way, in fun kid form, as the children make all sorts of interesting discoveries! Armed with lab coats and safety goggles, these young scientists will uncover many mysteries. The world around us is filled with natural magic!

Voyage IV – July 30-August 10 – Olympics
The 2012 Summer Olympics are here! Campers will go on a voyage to become Olympians as well! Starting with our own special “torch lighting” ceremony the children will decide what country or region they are from, We’ll engage in traditional, silly, original, and inventive Olympic events using gross motor, fine motor, and cognitive skills. The campers will make their own flags, take turns as judges, win medals, and learn all about the Olympics.

Voyage V – August 13-24 – Performing Arts
Pretending and performing is a natural part of learning for young children. We will explore the world of performing arts through research and hands-on learning. This is an emerging camp experience and we will follow the interest of the children as they explore puppetry, poetry, music, creative movement, acting, and more. Campers will have the opportunity to share their experiences at the end-of-summer potluck.
